Exploring Social Media - seminar and debate
Media and Design Research focus area, in the Media Lab UIAH, organizes a seminar “Exploring Social Media” on 17 May 2006 in Media centre Lume, Kino Marilyn.
The emergence of social media and its applications is one of the major new trends in the evolution of the media environment. Old media infrastructures and devices have been mostly designed to support digital transformation of the traditional media formats, with their old patterns of creation, production, publishing, programming, ownership and management. Another aspect that makes social media interesting and a promising research and development area is its potential to create socially more meaningful communicative structures that deliver real value to people. Social media form a new challenge and opportunities for digital design that we want explore in this seminar. The seminar also aims at promoting and disseminating results and findings of the Media and Design research study project held in an academic year 2005-2006.
