Arki is starting an IP Redesign initiative. The starting point is that we believe that Intellectual Property related issues are very problematic in society at the moment, and many new interesting developments in society, technology development, content production, design and evolution of social practices is hindered by the mismatch between these and the current complex IP system.
The problem is understandable, because the existing systems were obviously designed with another kind of reality in place and, consequently, in the mind of its designers. Another point is that the whole assemblage of IP designs has emerged in such diverse processes that they are not coherent. However, this situation is increasingly hindering many positive developments that could be possible because of digital convergence.
